As part of the symposium, we are proud to present a screening of “Henry Miller’s Paris,” a beautifully crafted short film by Rob Kolodny (House of Nod), created to commemorate the 2014 Aller Retour Paris event hosted by the Henry Miller Memorial Library.
This film is more than a documentary—it’s an elegy, a celebration, and a love letter to the city that shaped Miller’s early voice and vision. Set to music and infused with imagery from Parisian streets, it captures the spirit of creative freedom Miller found in—and gave to—the City of Light.
"A voyage through writing, sex, spirituality, nightmares, and New York that captures the warmth and high animal spirits of singular American artist and auteur, Henry Miller, on an intimate tour of his bathroom gallery. It's a miraculous shrine of photos, drawings, and interstitial anecdotes of mad kings, philosophers, women, and friends of the author."
